How are Leadership Teams Elected?

Leadership Teams are selected via a nominations process.  Each member of the chapter is able to nominate either themselves or another member of the chapter to serve in any role.  The incoming President is selected by the outgoing officers and the BNI Regional Support Team.  The balance of the leadership team is selected with input from outgoing team members and members assuming roles for the upcoming term.

What are the Leadership Team terms?

Leadership Teams serve from October 1st to September 30th.  In some cases, a member may assume a role early if there is a need for that person to start prior to October 1st.

What are the training requirements and how often do I have to attend training?

BNI Western PA has developed on-demand training for all Leadership Team roles.  Depending on the complexity and topics, the length of training will vary.  Roles such as President, Vice President and Membership Committee tend to be the longest due to the number of topics that needed to reviewed.

For members staying in a similar role, for example a Vice President moving to Membership Committee.  That member may request to "test out" of the training.  Please contact your Senior Director Consultant to confirm elidibility and "test out" requirements.

Do the non-officer roles have to attend training?

Yes, all roles REQUIRE training.  As BNI Global and BNI Western PA continue to add technology to our system, processes changes and members can be misinformed by previous Leadership Teams on how the process works.  This causes additional time and keeps us away from our core desire of developing relationships and passing referrals.

I am currently serving as the President, Vice-President, or Secretary Treasurer, can I stay in an officer role for another year?

Not usually, there may be situations with approval from the regional office that an officer may remain in an officer role for a second term.  What most members have found in serving in back to back terms is that they experience extreme burnout in the last three to six months of the second term.

As a current (out-going) President, Vice President, or Secretary/Treasurer, may I serve in a Support Role for the upcoming Leadership Team?

Absolutely assuming you are asked to serve by the incoming Leadership Team.  Chapters having members with experience will see their chapters run in a consistent manner.

Do Officers receive any incentives for successfully completing all the responsibilities of the role?

BNI Western PA has a program called "Net +4".  If the chapter experiences growth of Net 4 members from October 1st to September 30th, when the officers plus one other member renew.  They will receive two years at the cost of a one-year renewal.

How long can I serve in a role?

Some members do find roles that they enjoy serving in for multiple terms.  Please nominate yourself for a role that you would like to stay in.  However, all Leadership Team roles are at the approval of the incoming Chapter President and regional office.
